A winning round

In March 1987, the Jottrand family created a cooperative society which bought the Ferme-Château in poor condition and 50 hectares of land located in the Orneau and Ligne valleys. A building permit was introduced for the construction of a golf course. This received the approval of the municipality in August, the date of the first mechanical shovels to build the putting green and the pitch & putt greens.

Five hundred shares were put up for sale as an entry fee in September. Each part constituted a contribution for the construction of the installations. A small team worked on the construction of the land when weather conditions permitted and in the buildings during inclement weather.

During the winter, the first members hit balls on the practice for free… provided they picked them up. 100 members had joined the club after the first winter. In spring 88, a club house was set up in the main building of the Farm (currently the pro-shop). Approach competitions on the practice and then on the pitch & putt began in June 88. It was only a pretext to meet and sympathize.

The first 4 holes of the course were played in the fall and the next 5 were opened in the middle of the following year.

On March 15, 1989, the Golf de Falnués became the thirty-fifth effective member of the Royal Belgian Golf Federation.

Seven new holes were accessible in the course of the year 90 which saw the sporting activity take its cruising speed. Major work of de-stumping and de-stoning was undertaken to complete the last two holes in the woods.

Restoration work on the final clubhouse entered a decisive phase. 1991 saw the culmination of the project with the opening of the 18 holes (PAR 71) and the inauguration of the remarkably restored club house.

Since 1987

The sporting activity was crowned in 1993 by a title of Champion during the Cups of Belgium IV.

A new par 4 (the 11) was created in 2003, then holes 10 and 12 modified to finally obtain a PAR 72, following the abandonment of par 3 n ° 17. Since then, the configuration of the course has not changed.

In 2009, a new project saw its completion: a 10-room hotel completed the offer available on the site.

During these 3 decades, most of the buildings have been restored, and in particular their roofs, the last of which, that of the clubhouse, was replaced in the fall of 2019.

The last few years have seen significant improvements on the ground. Modifications of departures, changes of positioning of some bunkers made the game even more pleasant.
